Well, to be honest, a lot of things, but I will just touch on a few: First of all, it is the third highest-rated Korean TV series in cable TV history behind Sky castle. Secondly, this show is an accurate portrayal of South and North Korea, so why not watch it?
This show is an addictively romantic South Korean soap opera that features a top-notch plot with well-portrayed characters, unlike most shows. And to make it even better, it features lots of beautiful, exciting, or heartbreaking moments mostly in the last episode. Just to name a few!
With that said, let’s get started!
This show kicks off with a seamless introduction of several crash-landing casts, including the main character Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), a chaebol heiress to the family business, Queen’s Group, and a South Korean living with her stepmother and elder half-brothers.
Due to dislikes from her stepmother and half-brothers, Son Ye-jin chose to work out of the family business. She then started Seri’s Choice, her own fashion and beauty company, which ends up being successful. After her father’s release from jail, he could no longer run nor manage the family business, Queen’s Group. Therefore she opted for Se-ri to take over instead of her brothers. And besides her Seri’s Choice company making her independently wealthy, she agreed to take over the Queen’s Group.
However, just before the announcement was made official, the real drama unfolded. Se-ri experienced an unfortunate paragliding accident during her extreme sportswear test. A sudden tornado caught her and blew her over to the Korean Demilitarized Zone and North Korea. But during this unfortunate event, he first made a fateful encounter with Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin). This was the person who ends up protecting her and falling in love with her.
After landing in North Korea, she was desperate to get back home. Despite her several attempts, she could succeed at first. One reason being her elder brother Se-Hyung and his wife, who took active measures to prevent her from returning home. However, on the other side, Hyun Bin chooses to take her to her home. This later ends up with Cho Cheol-gang’s men shooting him after a highway confrontation. . And This was just the first of many dramas that followed before Se-ri could successfully return home.
After tough times were over and back home, Se-ri formed a musical scholarship foundation with its headquarters in Switzerland. This foundation aimed to help underprivileged children from around the world. Se-ri became a judge in the final competition for scholarships, seeing them spend two weeks together in Switzerland every year. Jeong-hyeok was then appointed as a director and with whom she ended finding love and happiness.
The paragliding accident was one of many predestined events the lead to Ri-Ri’s romantic relationship happening. Each event seamlessly unfolds into a romantic story for Se RI and Hyun bin and other characters.

Why ‘Crash Landing on You’ Won’t be returning for a Season 2
This show is a popular series in Korea and worldwide, thanks to its incredible storyline and presentation. And because of that, it is easy to see why most of the Ri-Ri’s fans are anxious. Actually, they can’t wait for their favorite characters to return on screen again. But the question is, will it ever happen?
Despite much speculations about season two returning in 2022, I personally don’t think that will come to light soon, and here are some of the main reasons why:
- First of all, Kdrama TV series are rarely renewed for multiple seasons even if it was a huge hit. In fact, many shows last for just one season, with a few Korean shows only written to last multiple seasons.
- Secondly, this show didn’t end with any cliffhangers that might help build up suspense for season 2, making it hard to renew and continue the show. The entire story was wrapped up nicely in a crash landing on you ending with:
- Lovely Switzerland reunion between Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri.
- A nice wrap-up of other characters’ story too. For example, Dan choosing to dedicate her life to music after they cruelly took away her love.
- Thirdly, there hasn’t been any official confirmation on its renewal yet, making all rumors unsubstantiated.
- Finally, the prevailing Covid 19 may even make it harder or halt the possibility of renewal happening soon.
But for a second, let’s assume there is a chance for Crash Landing on You season 2 to happen. So, what are the signs for that happening, and how will it look like?
- Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri having a long-distance relationship due to political tensions
- Majorly centered around political unrest themes between the two countries (North and South Korea).
Crash landing on you Hyun Bin & Son Ye Jin dating
Dream couple is what we all love. Luckily, in a crash landing on you, we saw that between Son Ye-Jin and Hyun Bin. However, it will be surprising to many of you that this wasn’t their first film that both stars have featured in. If you have watched Secret Graden the 2011 K-drama, then you may have noticed them. And to make it even better, during Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in 2014, they both sat next to each other.
Otherwise, their on-screen relationship in Crash Landing on You is quite a visually enchanting experience to most. They portray deeply heartfelt emotions along with taking us through the adventurous journey of their relationship in all crash landing on your episodes. Starting from a paragliding accident to a two weeks holiday in Switzerland, every scene tell a fascinating story thanks to a well-curated plot.
But did you know that they are both dating in real life? Well, yes, they are, if you didn’t know.
Their 1st round of dating rumors appeared almost two years ago, 19th September 2018, but besides that, both agencies brushed it off as there is nothing but just close friends and jobs. This was followed by a number of Instagram posts with cute couple filters of both stars while promoting their newly released film. Shortly after those posts, both actors were caught on camera shopping together in the United States in January 2019, sparking a new wave of dating rumors. But both agencies denied those rumors.
But it wasn’t until on 1st January 2021 when dating rumors were confirmed both agencies stating that “Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin had developed romantic feelings for each other”. This came after Dispatch, the South Korean tabloid, published an article including their photos after a golfing session. Since then, their romantic relationship has been public.
