He was obligated to work in public service duty. However, he requested for re-examination, which came out clear. After that he was sent to a military camp situation in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, for basic training. Kim soo Hyun Crash Landing on You and Hotel del Luna was the first project, which he did right after returning to the acting industry. The audience was extremely excited to see Kim soo Hyun in Crash Landing on You because he had made a valuable place in their hearts.
